SESSION 6 - The Feasibility of Very Large Scale PIV and Tomographic PIV

The total field of view (FOV) over which PIV measurements may be made depends on a few parameters including available laser energy, camera sensitivity and resolution and seeding light scattering efficiency. Current camera technology affords high sensitivity and resolution while PIV lasers routinely deliver pulse energies up to 400m . With the use of various seeding materials we consider the maximum FOV and volume that may be measured by Planar PIV and Tomographic PIV respectively.
